Inside the Panther Perspective: The Students Behind the Camera Bringing SSHS Stories to Life

While most students rush through the halls during the morning bell or pack up at the end of the day, inside the Panther Perspective studio a different kind of hustle begins. Camera lenses snap into focus, bright lights flicker on, and someone is always hurrying to grab that one missing piece of equipment before recording starts. The Panther Perspective crew is officially on the clock.

Panther Perspective is Siloam Springs High School’s student-led broadcast program, where storytellers, tech-minded problem solvers, and school spirit champions come together to create weekly episodes for the entire campus. The show has become a cornerstone of campus culture, giving students a fun and informative look at all things Panther Nation.

“This is real journalism and real production work,” said Mr. Allen, the program’s instructor. “Everything viewers see comes from ideas and effort these students put in. They run the show.”

Each episode follows a cycle of creativity and focus. Students pitch story ideas that highlight campus events, CTE achievements, sports, and standout student moments. Scripts take shape. Anchors prepare lines. Camera operators secure the best spots around campus to capture interviews and action.

Filming days come with their own brand of excitement. A microphone battery dies right when someone delivers their best take. A hallway erupts in noise. A line gets tongue-twisted and the entire room erupts in laughter before regrouping. The crew learns fast that teamwork and flexibility are what keep the show moving.

Once filming wraps, editors step into the spotlight behind the screens. Using Adobe Premiere Pro, they cut clips, build graphics, adjust sound, and transform raw footage into a polished broadcast. The work requires patience and passion, especially when the school day feels packed already.

“It is really rewarding to see something we worked so hard on play for the whole school,” shared one student editor. “You get to say we made that.”

The show does more than deliver information. Panther Perspective captures the spirit of Siloam Springs High School. Viewers see themselves, their friends, and their community celebrated each week. It strengthens student connection in a way few programs can.

Their YouTube channel is the home for every episode. Students and families can watch anytime at:

The channel proudly states, “This is a student powered production.” Broadcasting students write the script, film and edit the content, and produce the final show under the guidance of a faculty advisor. The crew works around school schedules and class sizes to ensure that Panther Perspective remains a truly weekly broadcast.

Skills gained here reach far beyond high school walls. One student recently earned an Adobe Certified Professional credential in Premiere Pro. Others are exploring future careers in film, digital media, journalism, and video production because of what they have learned in the studio.

The team already has big ideas for what is next. They want even more student voices, more event coverage, and new creative segments that keep Panther Nation tuning in.

“We want students to feel proud and connected when our show comes on,” said an anchor. “We are telling the story of our school.”

From first brainstorm to final upload, the Panther Perspective crew works hard to shine a spotlight on the people and experiences that make SSHS what it is. Every broadcast shows the power of students leading the way and capturing the heartbeat of their school, one episode at a time.
