It’s that exciting time of year! 🎉 Pre-K and Kindergarten enrollment is now OPEN! This enrollment period is for new students who will be joining Panther Nation for the very first time. To make the process as easy as possible, we’re offering both online and in-person registration options for families.

If your child was enrolled in Pre-K last year, no re-registration is required—their enrollment will automatically roll over.

Earlier this week, our Nursing Department took time to recognize and thank our incredible Personal Care Paraprofessionals. A personal care paraprofessional supports our friends who need a little extra help with specific daily activities—and they do so with patience, compassion, and heart every single day.

To our Special Education Personal Care Paraprofessionals: thank you for the important work you do and the difference you make in the lives of our students. ❤️ They were treated to a sweet surprise as a small token of our appreciation—but it doesn’t begin to measure up to the daily dedication you show. Did you know February is National Love the Bus Month? 🚌 And we truly love our bus drivers! They’re so much more than “just” bus drivers. They are moms and dads, sisters and brothers, grandparents, friends, and incredible coworkers—the list goes on. They’re often the first smiling face our students see in the morning and the last fist bump they get before heading home each day. Paleontology in action! 🦕Ms. Futrell's 1st-grade class got hands-on and dug up some fossils! Over the past several weeks, they learned all about the history of the earth dating back to these prehistoric creatures. Ms. Futrell and her students want to give a BIG THANK YOU to our Siloam Springs Public School Foundation 🥰 It's through the grant Ms. Futrell received from the Foundation that allowed this lesson to be possible!

Child Find: Because Every Child Matters ❗Child Find is part of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and it guides an important responsibility we take to heart: locating, identifying, and evaluating children who may need early intervention or special education services.

But for us, Child Find is more than a requirement—it’s personal. We truly believe in meeting children where they are. We care deeply about the students who may need a little more time, a slower pace, or learning presented in a completely different way. Every child learns differently, and every child deserves the support they need to thrive.

If you hear your child say, “I saw princes and princesses today,” believe them—they’re telling the truth! ✨ Our Winter Homecoming Court visited all of our campuses this afternoon, spreading lots of sparkle and smiles along the way. The dresses were glittering, ties were perfectly straight, and the megawatt smiles were everywhere 😊At our younger campuses, members of the court read a book to each class, while students at our older schools had the chance to ask the court some great questions, including:

-Do you drive a Ferrari?
-Does the cell-to-cell, no-bell schedule still apply in high school?
-But really… how hard is high school? Like, super hard? 👀
-How can I succeed when I get to high school?
-I want to be an astrophysicist. Will high school give me the opportunities to help me get there?

Today is School Crossing Guard Appreciation Day! 🥳 These incredible individuals show up early in the mornings and late in the afternoons, all to keep our children safe. A few things you may not know about this special group: they love poking fun at one another, remember even the smallest details about students and adults alike, and truly love what they do. Crossing guards are often overlooked, but every role in the SSSD matters—especially theirs. The next time you see one of these friendly faces, be sure to offer a smile and a few words of encouragement! This week is Winter Homecoming! ❄️ On Thursday, these exceptional young men and women will visit each of our campuses, waving to their adoring fans along the way 😉 On Friday, we’ll wrap up the celebration with our Homecoming Pep Rally at the high school at 2:45 p.m. The pep rally is open to the public; however, all guests must check in through the high school front office and present a valid driver’s license. The excitement continues Friday evening with home basketball games beginning at 4:00 p.m. and running into the night. Add in testing across some of our buildings and Valentine’s festivities, and we’ve got ourselves one very full week! #Limitless

This week, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the INCREDIBLE school counselors who support, guide, and advocate for our students every single day. Their compassion, dedication, and commitment make a lasting difference in our school community.

Thank you to Heather, Chelsea, Kristen, Cruz, Judith, Morgan, Brendan, Desi, Leslie, Mary, and Joel for all that you do—listening, encouraging, problem-solving, and always showing up for our students and staff. It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Maria Barrientos, a cherished member of our school family, who passed away yesterday. Maria’s educational journey was marked by dedication and excellence, and for 14 years, she served the Siloam Springs School District with deep passion and care for students.

Principal Eumia Fullerton shared, “Maria was one of the most dedicated teachers I have ever known. She had a big heart, an unmatched work ethic, and a genuine concern for both the academic and emotional well-being of her students. She truly believed education was essential to a child’s success.”

Former Principal Josh Killian reflected, “Maria was the heart of Southside—often the first face families saw and a steady presence they trusted. Her decision to return to school to earn her teaching degree speaks volumes about her character and love for others. She will be deeply missed.”

We're back, baby! 🥳 School will be in session tomorrow, Friday, January 30, with limited rural bus routes. Our Transportation Department will contact families on affected routes directly. We can’t wait to see your smiling faces tomorrow, Panther Nation!

There will be NO SCHOOL tomorrow, Thursday, January 29th. We understand that many main roads are clear and that this decision may be frustrating for some. However, we ask that you consider the back roads where many of our students live, which remain icy and unsafe. At this time, we cannot safely send buses on those roads. Today’s Guest Teacher Orientation has been cancelled. We will share a new date as soon as it is rescheduled. At the Siloam Springs School District, we proudly refer to our substitute teachers as Guest Teachers—because when you work with us, you’re not just filling in, you’re our guest. We are trying to keep things lively with our "No School" posts. 😅 There will be no school tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, due to inclement winter weather. No angry elves over here, though! Transportation Director Mr. Avery is all smiles 😉—and we’re sure many of our students are, too! Sledding, snow ice cream, hot chocolate, TV time....bring it on snowmageddon!
